To build on the excitement of the countdown to Christmas, huge industrial shredders displayed the “days to go” before slicing each page into a drifting mass below.
(In reality a tear-off poster system allowed the staff to easily update the calendar through a concealed door)
All metalwork was hand-linished, a distinct brushed finish that catches the light adding a subtle sparkle whilst retained the industrial aesthetic.
Each laurel was created in halves and stood 1.8m high. Die-cut paper nets were stuffed with loose paper forming individual leaves. Once applied to the foamex core each half was interlaced by hand to conceal the joins. Onsite a pre-formed “tail” was wrapped and knotted to conceal the central fixing plate.
The sculptures were rolled out across the UK, EU and US.
