HATCH took inspiration from the blurred and distorted re-imagining of the signature Laurel Wreath. We created a bespoke perforated design that simply hooked over and hung from the existing fixture. The layers were laser-cut sheet steel, powder coated matt in the three process colours; Cyan, Magenta and Yellow. A perforated decal concealed the existing window fixture and brought the visual effect to the front of the window in matt black (Key).
This set up was designed to produce a 3D version of the Ben-Day process (the overlapping of circles famously used by Roy Lichtenstein)
The strength of the Process Colours accentuated the optical illusion, interjecting merging shapes and distorted colour to compliment the spirit and fundamental design of this exciting collection.
